Beautiful photography work from the serie Meng Ke by Casper Faassen. In this work movement is of importance; behind an extra layer of mist or glass, creating a distance between the admirer and the subject. Casper technically enhances the feeling of nostalgia by adding a layer of craquelure: by applying a layer of quick-drying acrylic paint on top of a layer of slow-drying oil paint, the surface ‘cracks’ and a dark layer of paint emphasises the subject’s beauty and melancholy.
