Cédric Bouteiller

Born in 1970 and raised under the sun of southern France, Cédric Bouteiller lives in Aix-en-Provence, where he studied visual arts and philosophy. After his studies, he decided to travel, moving from Marseille to New York and from Shanghai to London—cities that continue to inspire him. His artworks tell the story of his perspective on the world, reflecting the social, aesthetic, and political aspects of society, as well as memories of certain places and people that once left an impression on him. With a hint of humor, Bouteiller seems to remind us that as long as we hold onto our inner child, adult life becomes easier to bear. He suggests we need not understand everything, but rather keep dreaming. The vibrancy of "the city" fascinates him. Unlike many who find urban environments claustrophobic or stifling, Bouteiller feels completely at home there. “The city” is a recurring theme in his work, depicted with boundless imagination. Viewers are invited to be swept away into Bouteiller's ultramodern world, one filled with sound, silence, mystery, and magic. Cédric Bouteiller creates his pieces first as original, manipulated photographs on aluminum dibond, with all photographic elements personally captured by him. He then hand-finishes his work using mixed “street art” techniques, paintbrushes, stencils, and collages, ultimately sealing each piece in epoxy resin. Each of Bouteiller’s paintings is truly unique! Cédric Bouteiller exhibits his work globally.
