Erro
Erró is an Icelandic visual artist and painter known for his Pop Art collages. He combines images from various popular sources, including advertisements, comics, and posters. This approach has led to comparisons with earlier artists like Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and James Rosenquist. Born in 1932 in Ólafsvík, Iceland, Erró studied engraving, frescoes, and painting at the Academy of Oslo. He began exhibiting his work in the mid-1950s, and in 1989, he donated his archives to the city of Reykjavik, establishing the Erró Collections in the Reykjavik Art Museum. In 2000, the Icelandic parliament awarded him the Honorary Artists' Stipend, and the following year, a museum dedicated to his work opened in Reykjavik. In 2010, the Centre Pompidou in Paris held a major retrospective exhibition showcasing 50 years of his collages.
