Hans van Horck

Hans van Horck (1952) studied at the Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven. Van Horck is a highly successful painter who regularly exhibits his work in Europe and the United States. Regarding his work and the ideas behind it, he says: “The language of the body” is what I seek in my paintings. This language is a fusion of visual and emotional impressions. To capture the visual impressions, I use ‘realism,’ while color serves as the vehicle to convey the emotional impressions. It is captured through countless small variations and expressions. The desire to create an illusion, which itself is an illusion, is the driving force behind my paintings. Hans van Horck’s work is a quest for balance between beautiful, expressive colors and figurative elements. In his most recent work, he is inspired by the search for origin myths from Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. He explores and delves deeper to merge the intersections he discovers into his paintings.
