Juan Ripollés

The work of Ripollés (1932, Castellón, Spain) reflects what he feels. His inspiration comes from his imagination. Ripollés lives as a hermit, close to nature. He paints outdoors, where he creates a world of love and tenderness, with simplicity and expressiveness being key. He pushes aside negative emotions such as hatred and jealousy. The heads of the creatures he creates often seem to embody their entire being. His colors are vibrant, and through the use of contrasts, he creates a breathtaking atmosphere. Ripollés is considered one of the most important contemporary Spanish artists, and his work is included in major collections around the world.
