Mart Visser

Mart Visser (1968) studied at the Montaigne Fashion Academy and the Saga International Design Centre in Copenhagen. In addition to Haute Couture and Ready-to-Wear, Mart Visser has been creating impressive heads and character studies since 2008. Through both painting and sculpture, he gives faces an unprecedented, unique expression. Visser draws inspiration from the faces he encounters, allowing his creativity to flow freely as he brings his works to life. Initially, he never knows where the pen or brush will take him. Mart Visser’s career as a couturier centers around dressing the individual. His strength lies in the personal attention he dedicates to each woman he dresses. He has the ability to translate a client’s original idea into a three-dimensional creation, where structure, texture, and technique are characteristic of his designs. Mart Visser's art is realized in a similar way; each piece is a personal reflection of the encounters and experiences of this multidisciplinary artist. Every work has its own unique texture and is crafted using various techniques. The contrast between the "delicate design" of his haute couture and the roughness of his artwork is striking. The color palette and the dynamic use of materials are elements found in both of his disciplines. The most important unifying factor is his ability to intuitively connect with the individual and give it a three-dimensional interpretation.
