Whatshisname

Sebastian Burdon, also known as Whatshisname, creates intriguing and surprising sculptures, prints, and large-scale public artworks. The Polish artist began his journey at the early age of seven when, using an iconic Atari 130 XE, he created his first digital artwork pixel by pixel. In 2006, he moved to London, where he initially worked for several years as an assistant to various artists. Thanks to their advice, he embarked on a professional career as an artist. He soon found success outside the United Kingdom as well, exhibiting in cities like New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and Singapore. His often playful and slightly provocative pop art-inspired works have received much acclaim. Burdon says: “My work aims to show the unusual way of creative thinking by connecting the dots that already exist but have not yet been connected. The ideas that seem simple on the surface but have never been executed before.” Fun fact: His artist name is based on a song by Green Day called *Whatshername*. These heroes and idols from our youth are now merely faded memories—figures that had a profound impact on us at a young age but are no longer nearly as relevant today. Often, the memory has faded to the point that we can no longer recall their exact colors and shapes. The figures in these prints reach out a hand toward the viewer, seemingly pressed against the front of the artwork, as if they wish to remind us of their existence.
