From November 9 through December 8, 2024, Kunsthuis Amsterdam presented the first solo exhibition in the Netherlands by Bryan Adams, the world-renowned musician and internationally acclaimed photographer. With his exhibition Exposed, Adams showcased an impressive selection of his photographic work, capturing famous personalities in an intimate and distinctive way.

The exhibition offered visitors a unique opportunity to discover the multifaceted artistic world of Bryan Adams, who has gained international recognition as a photographer alongside his successful music career.

Exposed – Iconic Portraits of International Celebrities

For the exhibition in Amsterdam, Bryan Adams curated a special selection from his acclaimed photographic retrospective Exposed.

The exhibition brought together intimate black-and-white portraits of international celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Ben Kingsley, Amy Winehouse, and Mickey Rourke. These personal and revealing images were complemented by life-size photographs in striking, vibrant colours.

Icons such as Mick Jagger, Kate Moss, and Robbie Williams were also featured in the exhibition. Adams captures his subjects in an authentic and direct way, placing personality, emotion, and vulnerability at the heart of his photography.

Bryan Adams – From World-Famous Musician to Photographer

Bryan Adams' interest in photography began at an early age. In the 1960s, he experimented with his parents' Kodak Instamatic and Howell Super 8 cameras. What started as a fascination with capturing everyday moments and documenting his life as a musician developed into a professional photography career in the late 1990s.

His work has appeared in prestigious international publications, including Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper's Bazaar, GQ, and Esquire. Adams has also photographed advertising campaigns for renowned brands such as Hugo Boss, Converse, Montblanc, and Jaguar.

His photography has been exhibited internationally at leading museums and art institutions, including the Saatchi Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery in London, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, and the Royal Ontario Museum.

With his distinctive style, combining intimacy, sensitivity, and a keen eye for personality, Bryan Adams has established a recognisable position within contemporary portrait photography.

Festive Opening by William Rutten

On Friday, November 8, 2024, the exhibition Exposed was officially opened by William Rutten, one of the Netherlands' most renowned portrait and celebrity photographers.

With more than thirty years of experience in photography and his extensive work in television and media, Rutten has played an important role in bringing photography to a wider audience.

During the opening evening, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, invited guests had the opportunity to be among the first to discover the exhibition.

Discover Contemporary Photography at Kunsthuis Amsterdam

The public opening weekend took place on Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10, 2024. The exhibition remained open to visitors with free admission through December 8.

With Exposed, Kunsthuis Amsterdam brought an exceptional selection of international portrait photography to the Netherlands. The exhibition highlighted how Bryan Adams uses his camera to reveal a personal and unexpected perspective on some of the most recognisable faces from the worlds of music, fashion, and film.
