From April 19 through April 21, 2024, Kunsthuis Amsterdam presented Look at Me Now, a solo exhibition by artist Selwyn Senatori. During this special exhibition, Senatori unveiled an entirely new collection of paintings, combining his distinctive artistic style with a surprising new visual language.

With Look at Me Now, the artist paid tribute to both the Dutch Golden Age and contemporary pop culture. The exhibition brought together past and present, exploring themes of nostalgia, luxury, and modern society.

Selwyn Senatori – A New Artistic Direction

Selwyn Senatori (born in 1973 in Pallanza, Italy) is known for his colourful, expressive paintings that explore modern life, luxury, and pop culture.

For Look at Me Now, the artist spent an entire year developing a completely new body of work. Although the collection marked a clear departure from his earlier creations, his characteristic artistic signature remained unmistakable.

The new paintings revealed a different side of Senatori's artistic practice. Through innovative compositions, deep black backgrounds, and refined golden accents, he created artworks in which historical references and contemporary symbolism come together.

Look at Me Now – Where the Dutch Golden Age Meets Pop Culture

In Look at Me Now, Selwyn Senatori explored the relationship between different historical periods and social developments. He connected the richness and aesthetics of the Dutch Golden Age with recognisable elements of modern consumer culture.

Objects from the past, pop culture icons, and symbols of contemporary luxury took on new meanings within his compositions.

A defining feature of this series was the use of deep black backgrounds and golden accents, giving the artworks a powerful and timeless appearance. This combination created a striking contrast between historical elegance and modern visual culture.

Through his playful and recognisable approach, Senatori invited visitors to reconsider how the past and present are interconnected.

Festive Opening at Kunsthuis Amsterdam

On Friday, April 19, 2024, the exhibition Look at Me Now officially opened at Kunsthuis Amsterdam.

During the opening reception, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, visitors had the opportunity to be among the first to discover Selwyn Senatori's new collection.

The exhibition was subsequently open to the public on Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21, 2024.
